When updating finance in Roo-Trader, I’m getting a lot of “Download Error” in the Status column…any ideas?

The common cause of this problem is that the Exchange set for your security code is incorrect (thus Roo-Trader is unable to find and download any data).

Please make sure that the security code used in your trade entry has the correct Exchange set by going to Menu -> Edit -> Security Codes (this will open the Security Codes window). Locate the security code that always encounters a “Download Error” and check if it has the correct Exchange, if not then you must correct it by clicking the pencil icon next to it. Alternatively, you can open the View Trades window, right click on the trade and select “Finance Costs” and input the Finance costs manually.

A 19R Trading Day for Ken Long at Tortise Capital

R multiples are the key to proper money management when you are trading. This is a great trading day with a wonderful explanation of how Mr. Ken Long read the charts. Notice he kept putting in his stops to keep his profits when the trend changed. The close at the end cost him some profit when the orders failed to be filled quickly. What a great trading day! Roo-Trader Version 6.2.0 Released

We released version 6.2.0 of Roo-Trader this week. Roo Trader Ver 6 2 In this version we: Improved: Windows 8 compatibility. Modified the Reports section: The reports are now application-based (not portfolio-based). Recent versions store reporting details in the portfolio, when portfolio gets corrupted, user may not be able to view reports because they won’t show in the list of available reports in the Reports window. These details are now stored in the application itself and are now persistent. Removed: Connections to the old website (www.otrader.com.au). Our software now connects to only one site (www.roo-trader.com), which is the new and only active home of Roo-Trader software. Updated: Cleaner and simpler interface. Added: Initial phase for Multi-Language support (which is expected to be completed on the next release). Updated: Microsoft .Net from version 3.5 to 4.0. Updated: Third-party libraries (most recent release to address bugs and compatibility issues). Fixed: Other minor bugs. We continue to work on and improve our software. If you have a suggestion for a missing feature, please send it to us. We add features based on your input! Happy Trading! William

Van Tharp’s new book “Trading Beyond the Matrix, the Red Pill for Traders and Investors”

Van Tharp’s new book “Trading Beyond the Matrix, the Red Pill for Traders and Investors”, now on Amazon. Trading Beyond the Matrix The Red Pill for Traders and Investors By Van K. Tharp, Ph.D. In the sci-fi movie classic, The Matrix, the hero Neo was given a choice: take the red pill and see the world as it truly is, or take the blue pill and wake up in his bed believing whatever he wants to believe. Of course, Neo takes the red pill, and the adventure begins. Now, what if there was a real Matrix and a real red pill? The newest book from trading coach Van K. Tharp, Trading Beyond the Matrix: The Red Pill for Traders and Investors (Wiley; $40.00; March 2013, 978-1-118-52566-1), is the reader’s red pill and will lead them on a journey to dramatically improve their trading results and financial life by shining a light on the engrained ideas, beliefs, and perceptions that influence every one of their trading decisions that may keep them from the success they deserve. In Trading Beyond the Matrix, Tharp takes the reader by the hand through the steps of self-transformation, from incorporating “Tharp Think”—ideas drawn from his modeling work with great traders—making changes in yourself so that you can adopt the beliefs and attitudes necessary to win when you stop making mistakes and avoid methods that don’t work. The book also offers: • Three different levels of transformation to improve as a trader and to become a happier person. • Real success stories of people who have changed their trading significantly as a result of adopting these concepts. • Learning how to meet your objectives. • Statistical methods for understanding the market. • How to determine if your beliefs (programs) are useful or not. • Two different methods of dealing with internal conflict. • Nine steps to master yourself. • And much more! Helping others become the best trader or investor they can be has been Van K. Tharp’s mission since 1982. Dr. Tharp offers unique learning strategies, and his trading education techniques for producing great traders are some of the most effective in the field. We’re Running Late

We are running late this month. We normally push out an update by the 21st of each month. This month, we are finishing two projects. First is the changes Microsoft has made to the way software behaves. They made a change to Windows 8 and we are modifying our software to ensure you get a smooth installation. This was based on two new users finding permission issues when they installed a new copy of Roo-Trader. Second, we pushed our multi-language version of Roo-Trader back a month. The reason we pushed it back a month was to ensure Windows 8 compatibility. We should roll out our new version in March. Thank you for trying our software and staying with us over the years! Happy Trading! William and the Roo-Trader team.
