The Roo-Trader End of Year – 2012!

It has been a very busy year for us. We went from our beta version to a final release of Roo-Trader version 6. We completed our migration from OTrader version 4 and released the import wizard to migrate our clients to the new version. Our users have been quiet, which means Roo-Trader is working, the application is stable and now users are requesting some new features. We will keep adding them to our to-do list. We prioritize our tasks and constantly work on them. This software will keep evolving to serve you better in 2013. We will work hard to stay with our monthly release schedule. However, some features will require more time or resources than a monthly release will allow. So, that schedule will probably vary. Coming in 2013 we have multi-language support being released in January. Then a long list of additions that we have been tracking. The functionality will not change, but we will be adding more import/export functions. Also, look for the addition of tracking your trades in your journal. We all wish you a success in your personal and professional lives. Happy Trading in 2013! Sincerely, William and the Roo-Trader Team!

When entering a trade, you need to plan on your exit strategy. This article on Investors.Com page has a sample list of reasons to sell a stock or option. Don’t Wing It; Follow The Rules When You Sell An article by Vincent Mao has his tips on the Investor’s Corner of Investors.com. To highlight a few of them: • Cut losses at no more than 8%. • Lock in gains when they amount to 20% to 25%. • Don’t let a big gain turn into a loss. • Closing below the 10-week moving average in significant volume. Consider selling if a stock closes the week Sell when stock ends below its 10-week line in volume that’s at least 40% above average. COWINOMICS – Economics Explained With Cows!

COWINOMICS

SOCIALISM

You have 2 cows. The State takes one and gives it to your neighbor.

COMMUNISM

You have 2 cows. The State takes both and gives you some milk.

FASCISM

You have 2 cows. The State takes both and sells you some milk.

NAZISM

You have 2 cows. The State takes both and shoots you.

BUREAUCRATISM

You have 2 cows. The State takes both, shoots one, milks the other, and then throws the milk away…

TRADITIONAL CAPITALISM

You have two cows. You sell one and buy a bull. Your herd multiplies, and the economy grows. You sell them and retire on the income.

SURREALISM

You have two giraffes. The government requires you to take harmonica lessons

AN AMERICAN CORPORATION

You have two cows. You sell one, and force the other to produce the milk of four cows. Later, you hire a consultant to analyze why the cow has dropped dead.

ENRON VENTURE CAPITALISM

You have two cows. You sell three of them to your publicly listed company, using letters of credit opened by your brother-in-law at the bank, then execute a debt / equity swap with an associated general offer so that you get all four cows back, with a tax exemption for five cows. The milk rights of the six cows are transferred via an intermediary to a Cayman Island Company secretly owned by the majority shareholder who sells the rights to all seven cows back to your listed company. The annual report says the company owns eight cows, with an option on one more. You sell one cow to buy a new president of the United States , leaving you with nine cows. No balance sheet provided with the release. The public then buys your bull.

FRENCH CORPORATION

You have two cows. You go on strike, organize a riot, and block the roads, because you want three cows.

A JAPANESE CORPORATION

You have two cows. You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and produce twenty times the milk. You then create a clever cow cartoon image called ‘Cowkimon’ and market it worldwide.

A GERMAN CORPORATION

You have two cows. You re-engineer them so they live for 100 years, eat once a month, and milk themselves.

AN ITALIAN CORPORATION

You have two cows, but you don’t know where they are. You decide to have lunch.

A RUSSIAN CORPORATION

You have two cows. You count them and learn you have five cows. You count them again and learn you have 42 cows. You count them again and learn you have 2 cows. You stop counting cows and open another bottle of vodka.

A SWISS CORPORATION

You have 5000 cows. None of them belong to you. You charge the owners for storing them.

A CHINESE CORPORATION

You have two cows. You have 300 people milking them. You claim that you have full employment, and high bovine productivity. You arrest the newsman who reported the real situation.

AN INDIAN CORPORATION

You have two cows. You worship them.

A BRITISH CORPORATION

You have two cows. Both are mad.

AN IRAQI CORPORATION

Everyone thinks you have lots of cows. You tell them that you have none. No-one believes you, so they bomb the **** out of you and invade your country. You still have no cows, but at least now you are part of Democracy….

AN AUSTRALIAN CORPORATION

You have two cows. Business seems pretty good. You close the office and go to the pub for a few beers to celebrate.

A NEW ZEALAND CORPORATION

You have two cows. The one on the left looks very attractive.

A GREEK CORPORATION

You have two cows. You borrow against the cows from the Germans You kill the cows and make souvlaki You can’t pay the interest so the Germans lend you more money You can’t pay the interest so the Germans lend you more money You can’t pay the interest so the Germans lend you more money You can’t pay the interest so the Germans lend you more money ….. New Release – Roo-Trader 6.0.4

Our development team released this month’s update for Roo-Trader. We are working hard to keep releasing updates each month for the new platform. This month, we added the import wizard to bring your older Version 4 OTrader data into the new database structure. One of our users successfully imported 1500 records. He noted the speed has increased and the functionality has improved in the new version. If you have an older set of data, please download the new software. The import wizard is in the menu. It is pretty easy to use and it should be a smooth migration. Just let Roo-Trader update itself by going to Menu–>Help->Check for Software Updates. After updating Roo-Trader, you will be able to open the Import Tool by going to Menu->Help->Import Tool. The import tool will “convert” your old data (OTrader format) to the new format without having to delete the old one (the older data will be preserved). The wizard will create a new portfolio in Roo-Trader format and copy the contents from your old portfolio. Close Roo-Trader, then open it back up and open the new data. Happy Trading! William

We are now working on the web sites, the migration wizard for our older users and the suggestions we receive form our users. Please bear with us as we get everything shifted to our new back end operations. As always, please let us know your thoughts and suggestions. Roo-Trader Version 6 Release Candidate 1 is Out

What a long and winding road this has been. After two years of work, the development team put out RC1 on Friday. The beta testers have pulled it down and are again making suggestions to us. Although, we are hearing less and less from them as their issues have been addressed. We still need your input to keep doing our updates for you. Suggestions and comments are very welcome! The current update notes for Version 6 RC1 are here: V6-RC1-Notes http://www.otrader.com.au/updates/RooUpdates.asp?Serial=Z1Z There are still a lot of updates we will be making. Our next big set of challenges are the migration wizard for our older software users, and then the price updates. We also had some feedback from two Forex users that will require us to add a section for their needs. That will make it easier for them to navigate the system. Happy Trading! Version 6 Beta 9 Released

BETA 9 has been uploaded to DropBox. In this release are the following: 1. Added strategy name in the subtotal row in the View Trades by Strategy (as suggested by Glenn), likewise fixed grouping by strategy (original code groups 2 strategies as one if the security codes are the same). 2. Ability to select Strategy Name in Multi Leg Trade window without the need to clear all previously entered trade details (as suggested by Neil). 3. Fixed possible bugs in European formats (this is a blindfolded attempt though because we don not have enough parameters to test the bugs because there was no log in RooERROR.log). 4. Code cleanup – removed unnecessary custom methods/functions (which were used in V4) but fully supported by .Net (and used the .Net version instead to prevent unnecessary bugs. 5. Fixed function to get Unique Code, which was suspected to be caused in virtual machines, but was actually a flaw when running in Windows 7. 6. Other minor bug fixes which came along the way. EXTEND YOUR BETA TRIAL PERIOD: Download the current beta from the Dropbox folder. Install the version 6 beta over the existing beta. If you need to extend the trial period, please do the following: under Help->Activation->Extend evaluation period (this will open a window) Please email me the “Unique Code” that will be displayed, then I will give you an extension code you can use to input in that same window to extend the trial period. This may take a day depending upon our time zones. Also, based on Alfonso’s suggestion, we are changing the menu so you can extend the trail BEFORE it expires so you do not lose any functionality. We realize we are working with global users and our time zones are off. So we want to get you a code with time to spare. Please send your comments back to us and we will work them into the software! Happy Trading! Roo-Trader/ OTrader Team www.roo-trader.com www.otrader.com.au

New Release Version 6 Beta 8E

New Release Version 6 Beta 8E

We had hoped to release with a live version. Unfortunately, our testers keep making suggestions and finding issues. Great work guys! BETA 8E has been uploaded. In this release (this is a combined list of Alfonso’s and Glenn’s reported bugs, including those we found on our own): 1. Multiple Leg Trade – Fixed implicit when moving from cell to cell – Fixed saving banking details for “short” – Fixed the reset functionality (when a Strategy is loaded, it resets the grid using the pre-loaded strategy and not just clear the grid) – Fixed strategy selection (when user chooses headers, app originally asks to load it when in fact they are just headers and not actual strategies) 2. Banking – Fixed data sequence (rows are not properly arranged according to date and trade sequence, thus presenting some inconsistencies in balance column) – Fixed missing data on short calls and puts (deposits not reflected) – this is related to saving the data in Multiple Leg Trade – Enhanced date filters (included “All” but default is still the current month) 3. Strategy report – Fixed missing data (Open Qty) and invalid sign (Closing Value) 4. Profit/Loss Detail report – Fixed saving error due to presence of “/” in default filename 5. Profit/Loss Summary report – Removed details and revert back to plain “summary” 6. Trade Analysis reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly) – Fixed grouping of data 7. Dividends – Fixed saving of Dividend data (for further testing) 8. View Trades – Mark as Expired now working and renamed menu to “Close as Expired” (for further testing) – Enabled printing and exporting of grid data in Evaluation Copies (originally disabled) – Fixed bug: When selecting filters for Account and System, no data is displayed (which is a result of an incorrect query) – Enhanced date filtering mechanism 9. Create new DB – Added option for user to choose between copying settings from Default portfolio and Currently Opened portfolio (if the currently opened portfolio is not the default) 10. Reports Window – Fixed bug: when Account filter is selected, Banking and Banking Transactions reports do not display data. 11. Performance Chart – Enhanced date filters – Printing and exporting (as jpeg image) of the graphs is now supported 12. Other minor bugs and performance issues Please send us anything you can find or suggestions and we’ll keep upgrading the code base!
