Version 6 Beta 9 Released

BETA 9 has been uploaded to DropBox. In this release are the following: 1. Added strategy name in the subtotal row in the View Trades by Strategy (as suggested by Glenn), likewise fixed grouping by strategy (original code groups 2 strategies as one if the security codes are the same). 2. Ability to select Strategy Name in Multi Leg Trade window without the need to clear all previously entered trade details (as suggested by Neil). 3. Fixed possible bugs in European formats (this is a blindfolded attempt though because we don not have enough parameters to test the bugs because there was no log in RooERROR.log). 4. Code cleanup – removed unnecessary custom methods/functions (which were used in V4) but fully supported by .Net (and used the .Net version instead to prevent unnecessary bugs. 5. Fixed function to get Unique Code, which was suspected to be caused in virtual machines, but was actually a flaw when running in Windows 7. 6. Other minor bug fixes which came along the way. EXTEND YOUR BETA TRIAL PERIOD: Download the current beta from the Dropbox folder. Install the version 6 beta over the existing beta. If you need to extend the trial period, please do the following: under Help->Activation->Extend evaluation period (this will open a window) Please email me the “Unique Code” that will be displayed, then I will give you an extension code you can use to input in that same window to extend the trial period. This may take a day depending upon our time zones. Also, based on Alfonso’s suggestion, we are changing the menu so you can extend the trail BEFORE it expires so you do not lose any functionality. We realize we are working with global users and our time zones are off. So we want to get you a code with time to spare. Please send your comments back to us and we will work them into the software! Options Trader Still Going Strong at 76!

A potential client, Jim, downloaded our software to test it out. Everyone can register and download the software for free. One of our follow-up marketing emails got a reply from Jim. He didn’t like our older version. It is too complex. Well, he has a great reason. We’ll take Jim’s advice and try to put in a “light” or easy entry section. We need to be called out when we get too deep in the woods. Thank you Jim for your helpful guidance. Here is his reply to our question; “What did you think of version 4” Begin Quote: Sorry, downloaded it. Looked at forms and input and reports. Way more work than the information I’ve had through online things like QuoteTracker, so far. That’s my answer: keep it going. Can’t use tedious forms; I’m 76, might not live long enough to fill them out. I trade 800 option positions/year. Jim End Quote. If you think you are getting old, read that quote again. Jim is trading 800 option positions a year at 76 years old. You go Jim! William

Google Price Updates

To pull price updates from Google Finance, open OTrader on your desktop and then: Menu->Edit->Preferences & Setup -> Security Codes -> Set all codes to update via <Choose Google>…then click Apply…that will update the entire portfolio to get updates from Google. If you want to go back to Yahoo or your custom DDE price update settings, go back to Preferences and select your old choice. We are still working on our central update server. We know some markets are missing from Google and Yahoo and we want to provide that data to you. This server will be tied to our next major software release later this year. Happy Trading! Nik
